TheWheel® SM470/1 - Automotive
The most difficult direct-drive application of all vehicles is that of automotive. Low motor weight, high peak torque, reliability at low production cost is an enormous engineering challenge. e-Traction has a unique design of motor ready to be unveiled soon.
As with all TheWheel® motors, this direct-drive in-wheel motor has integrated power electronics. Both motor and power electronics are cooled with fluid and air convection.
What makes this motor so special?
With this motor, e-Traction intends to show its technological leaderhip. Careful integration of multiple functions is the key to a succesful motor design.

Possible applications
TheWheel® SM470 is very much suitable to be applied in city cars. An average overall driveline efficiency allows downsizing of battery capacity in the vehicle. Especially small vehicles profit from this feature.
