Perfect integration with the e-Traction system

TheWheel™ is part of the e-Traction system an intelligent combination of the right components that together achieve a very high operating efficiency. The e-Traction system can be installed in multiple types of transportation:

  • Road transport: buses, freight vehicles
  • Boat propulsion: large sail yachts, ferry transport
  • Industrial applications: Container transport, mining vehicles
  • Stationary applications: generator application

Modularity is an important factor in the e-Traction system approach and this enables the possibility for widespread applications. Resizing the system for custom design criteria is simplified. Our system consists of the following items:

Direct-drive motors

e-Traction developed TheWheel™ for its high operating efficiency and is extremely modular. Shown here is a rear axle developed by e-Traction to fit a standard city bus, other applications are currently in realised.

Energy storage: Li-Ion batteries and customized Battery Monitoring System

Using state of the art batteries, the process of energy storage and use is further improved. e-Traction chooses Li-Ion as standard solution for its outstanding reliability. e-Traction only deliveres batteries when the Battery Monitoring System (BMS) is installed for online surveillance.

Energy production: e-Traction Auxilary Power Unit

e-Traction developed a generator system with variable power output which includes all auxilaries in one replaceable box. Main outputs can be varied with max. voltage up to 500VDC (blue box). The Auxilary Power Unit (APU) can consist of many different power solutions including diesel power, natural gas power, more batteries or hydrogen stack (currently being tested) Also, this solution is easily mounted in other applications.

Integration: State of art PLC technology with vehicle logging and display (PC module)

Essential in the system integration is vehicle management. The e-Traction system is managed by software which constantly monitors and interacts with the e-Traction components. Management includes:

  • temperature monitoring of all components as battery cells, power electronics and motors
  • vehicle energy and emission management (combined with GPS input for battery charge state/zero-emission operation)
  • display of system state (combined with PC)
  • logging and analysis.
